THE acclaimed Marist Brass Band is preparing to open its doors on Tuesday. 31 January for its Come & Try Day – Try playing an instrument! event.<\/p>\n
Marist Brass Band secretary Claire McLean said that during the group\u2019s history, the band has never stopped being open to new members across the diverse Bendigo and wider community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether you’ve played in a band, or never even picked up an instrument, this session is a great introduction to brass bands and playing a brass instrument,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur members are all ages, and come from many different backgrounds. We have members who are students, teachers, in finance, disability support, retail workers, retirees, and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlaying music is a fantastic way to meet new people and have stacks of fun, while also learning a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor kids studying music at school joining a community ensemble will help them excel at their studies, and provide them with a broader musical understanding, plus help them make connections with members of different bands all over the country, and can lead to many additional opportunities, but also after they finish they\u2019re year 12.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur band members have had opportunities to perform all over the state, attend music camps, participate in workshops, and make contacts with other musicians all over Austraia.\u201d<\/p>\n
