BENDIGO airport will see a cash influx this year thanks to the third round of the Federal Governments Regional Airports Program which was announced 20 January.<\/p>\n
The project approval for Bendigo will see a $100,000 upgrade to the perimeter fencing to reduce the risk of bushfires to the facility.<\/p>\n
Bendigo airport is one of 44 regional airports to receive funding in the current round of the program.<\/p>\n
Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister, Catherine King, said that the program would increase safety for \u201cfor aircraft, operators and passengers\u201d who use regional services.<\/p>\n
Ms King also said communities that benefited would gain a lot of other advantages from the program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese projects are also an investment in the improved delivery of goods and services, including healthcare and passenger air services,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Australian Government is committed to bolstering connections from Australia\u2019s regions to domestic and global market opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvesting in our regional airports is also critical to supporting the operational requirements of aeromedical and other emergency services.\u201d<\/p>\n
