HEATHCOTE bowlers are sporting a new name and a new look to go with it.<\/p>\n
The Heathcote Bowling Club has recently rebranded as the Heathcote Saints, aligning it with the town\u2019s cricket and football netball clubs.<\/p>\n
Bowls club president Bill Gardiner said the rebranding was made with the hope of attracting new players.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to bring over the members from the cricket, football and the netball,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they get older and finish their football or netball career, they can come over to the bowls.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe football and the netball all wear red, white and black and they use the name saints, so we went with those colours on our new shirts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only difference would be the stick figure on the back but otherwise the colours are the same.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought it might be a bit more comfortable for them to make the transition over to us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Committee member Dinah Finn said there were small royal blue flashes on the base of the shirt and members would still wear the same blue trousers and shorts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat way they don\u2019t have to buy new ones,\u201d she said. \u201cI think the new shirts look great, they\u2019ve come up beautifully.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
