THE team at Bendigo\u2019s Women\u2019s Shed is planning to open up at new site by the end of March as well as seek to grow membership following the establishment of a a fully formed committee.<\/p>\n
Group president Donna Heinjus said she was excited to have four women behind her to help Women\u2019s Shed grow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have managed to find these four beautiful ladies to be part of the committee,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all now putting our heads together and working really hard to be able to get our shed doors open for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prue Clarke, Yvette Brewin, Yolande Logan, and Lyn-Marie Richards will all join Ms Heinjus on the board.<\/p>\n
Ms Heinjus said a push for new members is also on the cards now things are moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are starting to get to work on our membership drive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s going to be the main focus before we open shed doors and try and get as many people to volunteer as possible as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new shed will have several workstations and include a kitchen and outdoor area with plans to host fundraisers and events on site.<\/p>\n
Ms Heinjus said they will hold workshops ranging from mosaics to card making where women can come down and create items for charities and other organisations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the knitting and craft classes we can make animal pouches and nesting boxes for wildlife and in the wintertime, we will look at creating blankets, scarves and beanies for the homeless,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLadies want to create a community garden out the back, so we will have to get our green thumbs on.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be nice to be able to smell the relishes and chutneys the women are making and we want to host barbecues, markets and games nights. We want it to be busy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
