{"id":87804,"date":"2023-02-20T04:55:12","date_gmt":"2023-02-19T17:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=87804"},"modified":"2023-02-14T19:56:56","modified_gmt":"2023-02-14T08:56:56","slug":"food-and-wine-to-celebrate-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/food-and-wine-to-celebrate-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Food and wine to celebrate season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FESTIVAL celebrating all the fantastic food and wine in the Heathcote region is set to return following a successful debut last year.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the Heathcote Harvest Festival, the Saturday, 11 March event is organised by Heathcote Tourism and Development and group president Peter Young said it\u2019s all about highlighting great produce in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a celebration in recognition of the fact we\u2019re starting our harvesting of the grapes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have live music on the Barrack Reserve oval, and we have a number of local wineries having stalls with beer and spirit providers as well as a variety of food stalls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis\u2019ll be an afternoon thing from about 4pm to 8pm for everybody to get together and have a good time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone had such a good time last year we\u2019ve got even more providers this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 20 stalls have been confirmed for the event featuring wineries like Silver Spoon Estate, Red Edge Wine, and Domaine Asmara.<\/p>\n<p>Wine, beer and gin tastings will be on offer, as well as children\u2019s entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>A sausage sizzle will also be run by the Heathcote Country Women\u2019s Association.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87806\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87806\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-87806\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/02\/hmb_00349-scaled-e1676364995475-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/02\/hmb_00349-scaled-e1676364995475-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/02\/hmb_00349-scaled-e1676364995475-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/02\/hmb_00349-scaled-e1676364995475-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/02\/hmb_00349-scaled-e1676364995475.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87806\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Last year\u2019s event attracted 1500 people to Barrack Reserve.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last year\u2019s inaugural festival was part of a campaign to increase Heathcote\u2019s tourism draw.<\/p>\n<p>The event saw 1500 attendees, which Mr Young said showcased the region as a strong events venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Heathcote\u2019s growing in its ability to deliver on a range of things,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re building on our capabilities to run events and host music events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur community\u2019s becoming attuned to the fact that Heathcote Tourism is putting on these events in the town.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this festival became more successful than we were thinking. We thought we\u2019d get 500 or 600 people and we got more than 1000 people. It was a great event for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Heathcote Harvest Festival will take place at Barrack Reserve on Saturday, 11 March.
