ONE of Australia\u2019s most well-known operatic sopranos, Antoinette Halloran, is coming to Bendigo to perform the first of a string of hour-long opera matinees later this month.<\/p>\n
The singer is set to perform some of the biggest hits from many much-loved operas as well as delving into some musical theatre during the concert as part of a show titled Matinee Series: Runaway DIVA with Antoinette Halloran<\/em>.<\/p>\n Halloran said she is excited to get to Bendigo to take part in the shorter and more intimate show.<\/p>\n \u201cI like to think of it, as a bit more of a cabaret,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s much more relaxed and intimate and I will be able to have a chat to the audience and get the chance to tell some stories.\u201d<\/p>\n Halloran said the matinees are a much more informal way to perform and are an easier viewing experience compared to a full-length opera, which sits better with some crowds today.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really just more of a relaxed way to perform and a relaxed show to watch as well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople don\u2019t seem to have the same attention span these days with the way the world is, so these shows work well in that regard.\u201d<\/p>\n
