THE program for this year\u2019s Easter Festival has been revealed and there\u2019s some new events on the agenda to go with the returning traditional favourites.<\/p>\n

The annual festival is Bendigo\u2019s longest running community event and will take place across the Easter long weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur homegrown festival delivers an outstanding program,\u201d said City of Greater Bendigo spokesperson Cr Rod Fyfe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere visitors and residents can experience living history, parades and wonderful cultural performances showcasing Bendigo\u2019s Chinese heritage, together with contemporary attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s program includes favourites like parades, easter egg hunts, markets, and carnivals but there\u2019s also a new Kaleidoscope<\/em> exhibition from the team behind some of Australia\u2019s biggest and most well-known interactive art installations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe creator behind House of Mirrors<\/em> will unveil a new installation, Kaleidoscope<\/em>,\u201d Cr Fyfe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a mesmerising mix of light and sound in a mirror maze, which will be on in Rosalind Park. This is a ticketed event and booking is required.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cr Fyfe said organisers are expecting a large crowd for the four-day festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy releasing the program now, it allows people to plan ahead so you can attend all of your favourites,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bendigo Easter Festival is a big draw event, attracting around 80,000 people across the duration of the festival.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the success of the festival built in part on community volunteers, Cr Fyfe said organisers are looking for as many people as possible to help.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we prepare for this year\u2019s event, we are also calling for volunteers aged over 15 to help out at the festival in various roles,\u201d he said. \u201cVolunteers have a lot of fun being part of the festival.\u201d<\/p>\n
