ACCOMPLISHED and budding songbirds alike are invited to an ongoing series of two-hour community singing workshops hosted by expert vocal coach Stella Savy.<\/p>\n
According to Savy each workshop is specifically designed to help participants \u201cunderstand their voice\u201d and involves singing songs in both English and other languages.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMy teaching style comes from a contemporary space but I do use some classical warmups to strengthen certain parts of the voice,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe start the sessions with a warmup that looks at how you are singing, making sure you are singing correctly and giving people tools to use at home to strengthen their voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause lots of participants are beginners, this is a great way to connect with your voice. Then we learn songs usually in three or four parts harmony, and the sound is amazing, so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
If this piques your interest but you\u2019ve never belted out a tune beyond the confines of your shower, and have some misgivings – not to worry, no prior singing knowledge is required.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an open and inclusive session that works for the people who say they can’t sing as well as people who have loads of experience,\u201d Savy said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust come and have a go. If you like it, you’ll love it! Such a lovely bunch of regulars come along to each session. There\u2019s so much fun to be had!\u201d<\/p>\n
