WITH season 2023 right around the corner, the Bendigo Pioneers will take to the footy field this year in new-look jerseys.<\/p>\n
The updated strips were created in partnership with La Trobe University and come with a special backstory.<\/p>\n
The redesign was headed by former Pioneers head talent scout David Meade who passed away in October, before seeing the designs come to fruition.<\/p>\n
Mr Meade wanted to develop a new logo that would represent both the boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 programs, as well as highlighting the strength of the region.<\/p>\n
He also sought to create a new clash jumper for the side.<\/p>\n
To continue Mr Meade\u2019s vision La Trobe University\u2019s Melinda Keighran and Bendigo Bank creative director Jacinta Wright worked on the project, with input from current players.<\/p>\n
The new jersey contains an inset shape that signifies the Pioneers\u2019 coverage area that includes the Bendigo, Central Murray, Sunraysia and Goulbourn Murray districts.<\/p>\n
It also includes a set of goalposts that were added at the request of current players who said it symbolised a winning mindset.<\/p>\n
The Bendigo Pioneers are part of the under-18 NAB state league which acts as one of the major player pathways to the AFL and AFLW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
