EAGLEHAWK will aim to cap a great fight with the powerful metropolitan clubs in this Saturday\u2019s finale to Athletics Victoria Shield League field and track action.<\/p>\n
The Hawks go into round two of the AVSL play-offs in third place in Premier division after they scored 45,688 points in hot and windy conditions at the Retreat Road complex in Flora Hill.<\/p>\n
Under the play-off format, athletes can contest up to four events, but it\u2019s highest points from three events and a relay which are added to the team score.<\/p>\n
The race to be number one in Premier division is led by Diamond Valley on 57,156, from Essendon on 48,792.<\/p>\n
In division two, South Bendigo was third on 19,752 points as Wendouree and Mentone led the way on 32,847 and 28,550.<\/p>\n
As the top two earn promotion, the bottom two are relegated for next season.<\/p>\n
Bendigo Harriers was eighth in division two on 14,025, but well clear of Sandringham, 9403, and Geelong Guild, 7573.<\/p>\n
Highest points scorers for Eaglehawk were Cameron Smith with 1451 points, Angus McKindlay 1413, William Beaton 1340, Jorja Morrison 1339, Daniel Chisholm 1314, Alyssa Beaton 1284, Madelyn Beaton 1252, Dave Chisholm 1195 and Terry Hicks with 1182.<\/p>\n
Athletes to watch for South Bendigo include Kai Norton who was Bendigo Region\u2019s highest points scorer on Saturday on 1486, Joan Self, Emma Berg, Oliver Muggleton and Carol Coad.<\/p>\n
The Harriers will look for big performances from the likes of Peter Clarke, Geoff Jordan, Anne Buckley, Tiffany Bussem-Jorgensen, Caitlin and Josh Evans.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s meet in Bendigo begins with hammer throw at 1pm.<\/p>\n
First-up on the track will be distance hurdles of 400, 300 or 200 meters from 1.30pm to be followed by 2000-metre walk, 200, 800, 3000-metre runs, and 4 x 400-metre relay.<\/p>\n
