{"id":88652,"date":"2023-04-03T04:56:30","date_gmt":"2023-04-02T18:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=88652"},"modified":"2023-03-30T09:32:13","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T22:32:13","slug":"easter-passion-play-set-for-rosalind-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/easter-passion-play-set-for-rosalind-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter passion play set for Rosalind park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>A local production of the biblical story of Easter will be run for a second year.<\/p>\n<p>Churches of Bendigo and Bendigo Easter Fair Society, in conjunction with the municipality, are putting on <em>Way of the Cross<\/em> on Good Friday at a stage set up for the event at Rosalind Park.<\/p>\n<p>Show director Julie Lovell from NEXUS Bendigo Youth Theatre said it\u2019s a much younger cast in 2023 and 33-year-old Caleb Maxwell will play Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very vibrant cast, it\u2019s very authentic as well, so a bit more accurate to the [ages of the] people in the time of what the storyline was,\u201d said Lovell.<\/p>\n<p>The play retells the story from the last supper to Jesus\u2019 crucifixion, and then his resurrection.<\/p>\n<p>It will start at 7.30pm and will run for just over an hour.<\/p>\n<p><em>Way of the Cross<\/em> has a cast of just under 40, from local churches and theatre groups and the team has been practising since early February and includes actors aged 10 to 85.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA wonderful representation of how the story is very generational, the theatrical production really has a great range of actors and interest from eight different churches,\u201d said Lovell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt represents lots of different people from around Bendigo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year the play was held in front of the Capital Theatre, though has been moved to the park to avoid traffic impacts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019ll be a really great place for families to sit and be entertained and see just a different side of Easter,\u201d said Lovell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know Bendigo really enjoys the theatre, and this is just kind of a lovely theatrical performance of the story of Easter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chair of the event\u2019s organising committee David Wright said about 2000 people are expected to show up for the performance and people will need to bring their own seats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing how moving the production can be for people who perhaps are on the fringe of the Christian faith, who may find solace in the production,\u201d said Mr Wright.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0A local production of the biblical story of Easter will be run for a second year.
