IT\u2019S nearly Easter and that means the local Lego community is set to show off their work over two big weekends.<\/p>\n
It starts with the Easter Festival display during the long weekend and that\u2019s followed by the annual Lego festival, Bendigo Bricks 2023.<\/p>\n
Bendigo Lego User Group president Michael Peebles said this time of the year is the busiest for local fans of the creative building blocks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are two parts to it,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have the mosaic that we will build at Easter time as part of the Easter Festival and it is a lot of fun getting the public to build it rather than us.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen the big thing, at least on our calendar anyway is Bendigo Bricks, which is the week after and it\u2019s our big exhibit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Peebles said lessons had been learned from last year\u2019s mosaic build, which was their first.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt won\u2019t be as detailed as last year,\u201d he said. \u201cWe discovered last time even little fingers had trouble with really tiny bricks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bendigo Bricks 2023 will be at the Prince of Wales Showground on the 15 and 16 April and Mr Peebles said there will be plenty on offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as exhibitors are concerned we have over 110 lined up,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are coming from as far afield as Adelaide, Sydney and Canberra.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have got a train club coming, so there will be a big train layout as well as a play area for big and little kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe local Scouts are going to have a sausage sizzle and there is going to be a coffee vendor as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have tried to have a bit more of everything this year. We will also have vendors there selling entire sets and spare parts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Peebles expects a good turnout and said love for Lego is as high as it\u2019s ever been.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t discriminate by age, a kid can get in there and create something, and so can an adult,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey will look at them in totally different ways but they are still using the same medium.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a tendency to build big stuff, upscaled buildings and things like that. Other people will build smaller things, the best part is it\u2019s whatever your imagination can come up with.<\/p>\n
