A ROLLICKING weekend of all things pre-World War Two motoring will descend on central Victoria later this month, with enthusiasts expected to travel from all over the state to attend.<\/p>\n
Stuart McCorkelle, events co-ordinator at the Vintage Drivers Club, which is co-presenting the occasion, said it has attracted some of the rarest and most exotic cars in the state to come out and play.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe age of the cars range from 1899 right through to 1940, so it will give the public a chance to see just how far the motor car developed in those early years of motoring,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the entrants it gives them a chance to do some motoring with likeminded people.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the event will be principally based out of Bendigo, there\u2019ll also be a series of short sojourns each day around the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaturday will see people travelling to Maldon for lunch before returning and taking part in a black-tie dinner at the Lakeside Quality Inn,\u201d Mr McCorkelle said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSunday, which coincides with National Motoring Heritage Day, the cars will be venturing out to Inglewood for lunch at the Inglewood Community Sports Complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cars will be on display here and will make for a fantastic showcase of pre-WW2 cars.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr McCorkelle said the public are welcome to view the classic vehicles on the Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Bendigo Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club rooms located at 118 Inglis Street in West Bendigo.<\/p>\n
\u201cOr the best viewing will be in Maldon on the Saturday around lunch time or at the Inglewood Community Sports Complex on the Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n
The inaugural Pre-WW2 Motoring Weekend incorporating National Motoring Heritage Day starts off in Bendigo on Friday 19 May, with activities continuing until Sunday 21 May.<\/p>\n
