WEDNESDAY, 17 May is IDAHOBIT Day, an international event focused on eliminating homophobia, biphobia, interphobia and transphobia.<\/p>\n
Mitchell Shire Council has free community events to acknowledge and support the day, and to share awareness.<\/p>\n
In a statement, mayor Cr Fiona Stevens said the municipality welcomed everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cDiversity is a part of life and understanding, respect and inclusion contribute to making where we live a nice place to be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has something to add to the changing tapestry of our community, and we welcome and support participation from all who wish to make Mitchel Shire their place to work, visit or live.\u201d<\/p>\n
Events to mark IDAHOBIT Day include Coffee with a Cop at Wallan Library on 17 May from 10 to 11.30am with the Proactive Policing unit.<\/p>\n
There will be free coffee, free LGBTIQ+ merchandise and an exhibition of artworks from local LGBTIQ+ community members.<\/p>\n
There will also be activities at Council Youth Rooms for people aged 12 to 18 years, including a tie dye workshop, ice-cream, music, snacks, and games.<\/p>\n
These include Seymour Youth Room, front room of Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre on Tuesday, 16 May from 3.30 to 5pm and Wallan Youth Room, 42 Bentinck Street, Wallan on Wednesday 17 May from 3.30 to 5pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
