{"id":89460,"date":"2023-05-14T04:58:23","date_gmt":"2023-05-13T18:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=89460"},"modified":"2023-05-10T11:28:14","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T01:28:14","slug":"lockdowns-inspire-first-single","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/lockdowns-inspire-first-single\/","title":{"rendered":"Lockdowns inspire first single"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EMERGING singer-songwriter Jaxon Reid has released his debut single <em>Breaking, <\/em>a song where the Gold Coast-based artist touches on his struggles through the recent COVID lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old Bendigo-born and raised Reid who moved to the Gold Coast in 2022 following the lockdowns to focus on his music and swimming careers said producing<em> Breaking<\/em> was a collaborative affair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe single I actually wrote with my dad during the lockdown,\u201d he said. \u201cWe were both really upset and confused because we were both trapped inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;d see all these news stories all the time and everyone had all these different opinions, and we didn&#8217;t know what to believe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne day we came together, and we started talking about it because we didn&#8217;t want to keep our feelings bottled in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we just put those words over a few chord progressions and that&#8217;s how <em>Breaking<\/em> came to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid said early reaction to the single had been positive, even catching others singing his tune on occasion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been getting some really good feedback I performed the song live at school last week and everyone seemed to like it,\u201d he said. \u201cI heard a few people humming it as I walked past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also do a bit of busking on the Gold Coast, and I performed <em>Breaking<\/em> there to try and get it out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I went to the bathroom after I performed and I was walking along and there were these two girls sitting on a bench watching my music video, which was kind of wild.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bendigo still holds a special place in his heart Reid said and he hopes to find himself back in town soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had such a great group of friends,\u201d he said. \u201cI used to play footy for Golden Square and swim at Bendigo East. I do miss it quite a bit it was so hard because that was my entire life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are plans on doing a small shopping centre-like promo tour.
