THE Western Bulldogs let another opportunity slip on Saturday night as they went down 75-97 to Geelong at Marvel Stadium.<\/p>\n
It marks the second consecutive week the Bulldogs have lost while having more scoring shots than their opponents with the club now holding a seven and five record after 12 rounds.<\/p>\n
Kane Cornes pointed to a lack of influence from their key forwards as reason to why the Bulldogs didn\u2019t run over the top of the Cats despite leading halfway through the third term.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had no influence up forward last night,\u201d Cornes told Nine\u2019s Sunday Footy Show.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Aaron] Naughton was soundly beaten by [Sam] De Koning, it was good to see him go back.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe kicked 38 goals last year Rory Lobb and he had a big contract that he came in on.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou just wonder about Luke Beveridge\u2019s tactics at times and his want to change things up and throw things around so drastically.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cornes\u2019 co-host Matthew Lloyd also questioned Beveridge\u2019s tactics and said he feels the coach often makes too many strategic moves that put players in positions they\u2019re not suited to.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt frustrates me so often, the unpredictable decisions,\u201d Lloyd said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great story [James] O\u2019Donnell but they say, \u2018We move Lobb to the wing so now O\u2019Donnell is in the forward line\u2019, but I don\u2019t think any position is right there.<\/p>\n
\u201cO\u2019Donnell doesn\u2019t look ready at this stage but he\u2019s being persevered with and then Lobb isn\u2019t a wingman.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey find form the Western Bulldogs, but then there are some strategic moves are made [that are confusing].<\/p>\n
\u201cIt might be what makes him a good coach at times, but I think it\u2019s also a weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n
With 25 scoring shots to Geelong\u2019s 22, Lloyd also added that accuracy in front of goal is one thing holding the Bulldogs back from joining the competition\u2019s elite.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir goal-kicking is horrendous,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey should have buried the Suns in the first quarter [last week] and last night it was terrible again.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s costing them games of footy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs face Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on Friday night with the Power entering the clash with nine-straight wins to their name.<\/p>\n
