THE City of Greater Bendigo is set to host an upcoming workshop on disaster preparedness.<\/p>\n
Part of the Safer Together Program, the event is called Building Resilience for a City in a Forest and the workshop aims to get a better understanding of community emergency readiness and safety.<\/p>\n
Manager of community partnerships for the City, Andie West, said the workshop is part of trying to get an idea of needs and actions during emergencies, such as bushfires.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis information will help develop a community-centred approach to emergency preparedness and allow the partners in this project to identify what resources and tools are needed and identify achievable solutions and actions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Participants will have the opportunity to share whether they have a bushfire plan, where to access resources and assistance, and their reasons for being prepared or lack thereof.<\/p>\n
The Safer Together program seeks to put together resources for the community\u2019s most vulnerable.<\/p>\n
It aims to find obstacles and gaps in emergency preparedness and comes through a collaboration between the Country Fire Authority, the municipality, and Bendigo Community Health Services.<\/p>\n
The workshop will also aim to help improve preparedness, build community resilience to disasters, and take part in realistic scenarios.<\/p>\n
Participants will also explore solutions and programs while learning about local initiatives.<\/p>\n
Registration for the workshop can be made through the City’s Let’s Talk Greater Bendigo website by Friday 23 June.<\/p>\n
Those unable to attend can contribute by completing a survey available on the website until Monday 31 July.<\/p>\n
The workshop is set for Saturday 24 June from 10am to 3pm at the Julie-Anna Inn on Napier Street in Bendigo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
