THREE of Coliban Water\u2019s Reservoirs are currently holding higher volumes than at the same time last year.<\/p>\n
Coliban executive general manager of strategy Jarrah O\u2019Shea said the high storage levels are good for long-term outlooks and the catchments had seen good rainfall during autumn.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received 210 milometers of rain at Malmsbury,\u201d he said. \u201cWhich is similar to last year and well above the long-term average.<\/p>\n
\u201cOverall, we are holding 3.3 gigalitres more in storage than at the same time last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese reserves place us in a very good position for this time of the year with a favourable outlook for the seasons ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Lauriston, Malmsbury and Coliban Reservoirs are at 80 percent capacity while the water utility\u2019s portion of Lake Eppalock was at 94 per cent.<\/p>\n
However, Mr O\u2019Shea said there was still a need to conserve the resource and follow water-saving rules.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese rules are in place across our region and everything we do to conserve water, even in the cooler months, helps overall water security,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
