A PARTNERSHIP between three community banks and AFL Central Victoria has ensured funding for the 2023 Heathcote & District Football Netball League season.<\/p>\n
The arrangement will aim to provide umpires, training for club committees, youth engagement programs, and coaching education and support at the league\u2019s nine clubs.<\/p>\n
Motivation for the decision from administrators of the Heathcote & District, Rushworth and Elmore\/Rochester\/Lockington community banks related to a desire to support young people returning to, and staying in, sport after COVID disruptions.<\/p>\n
Community Bank Heathcote & District chair Natalie Sheridan-Smith said the new arrangement was an opportunity for the branch to support local sport and the region\u2019s league at a grass-roots level.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that by investing in HDFNL the funds will be going back to help those in our immediate community and those in our neighbouring communities who are still picking up the pieces following the 2022 floods,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The HDFNL had previously been funded by Bendigo Bank corporate but this move aims to build on existing connections between these three community banks and their local clubs.<\/p>\n
Heathcote Football Netball Club president Rebecca Dickinson said she welcomed the move, particularly as it would allow the club to secure additional funds when supporters took out loans, or refinanced, through the Community Bank Heathcote & District referral program.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to know that the funding is there for this year and anything that gives extra support for football and netball is fantastic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Along with the Saint\u2019s, the HDFNL includes teams from suburban Bendigo, Elmore, Lockington and Bamawm, Toolleen, Colbinabbin, and Leitchville and Gunbower.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
