NOW on top of the ladder, Heathcote\u2019s focus is on a strong start in this Saturday\u2019s senior footy clash with White Hills in round twelve of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.<\/p>\n
The Saints are on home turf at Heathcote\u2019s Barrack Reserve to take on the Demons in a showdown between first and third.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe start of the match is going to be crucial for us,\u201d said Heathcote coach Andrew Saladino. \u201cLast time we met White Hills was up by 40 points in the first half.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe fought back brilliantly, but playing catch-up footy is never ideal,\u201d he said of the 113-115 loss on the Demons\u2019 ground in round three.<\/p>\n
The Saints again showed plenty of fighting quality to defeat Leitchville-Gunbower at Gunbower last Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the first quarter they worked so much harder in and around the contest than us,\u201d Saladino said. \u201cAt one stage centre clearances were seven-nil their way.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were focused too much on the outside game, and they were winning the ball at contests and using it well.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo the boys\u2019 credit they were able to turn things around in what was a great game of footy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Saints were without gun forward Corey Grindlay and will be for a few more weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorey broke his finger against Colbinabbin and will miss a few more weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
In Grindlay\u2019s absence it was Victor Butler who led the Saints attack by kicking four goals against the Bombers to be best afield along with Liam Jacques and captain Codie Price.<\/p>\n
