{"id":90693,"date":"2023-07-18T04:55:49","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=90693"},"modified":"2023-07-14T17:21:01","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T07:21:01","slug":"legends-link-up-for-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/legends-link-up-for-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Legends link up for tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WORLD renowned Australian musicians Grace Knight and Wendy Matthews will be stopping by Bendigo for a show next week and singing pieces from Paul Simon\u2019s album <em>Songbook<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Knight said she and Matthews had been friends since the 80s, and decided they wanted to do a gig together before COVID hit.<\/p>\n<p>The show will be part of three or four around Central Victoria, said Knight, and said the duo has an \u201cincredible\u201d band playing with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike actually physically perform together, not just get on stage and shoehorn ourselves into each other\u2019s songs but actually do something completely different,\u201d said Knight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe decided on Paul Simon, who\u2019s one of the most successful and prolific songwriters of pop history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been the most fantastic fun that both of us have ever had. We\u2019re on stage together, we\u2019re singing together, and apart from being a real laugh, it\u2019s a really, really fun show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The singer said she felt like she was \u201c15 minutes off retirement,\u201d another factor prompting her and Matthews to go on tour together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been very gifted with the fact that my work is really fulfilling for me as an artist and I\u2019m incredibly grateful that I have got for the last 45 years to do a job that just fills me up to the brim,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was another reason that prompted Wendy and I to pull our finger out and go come on let\u2019s bloody well do this before we shuffle off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As well as her singing career, Knight has had success in rug-making, with a recent creation of hers being displayed at a gallery in New South Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re very cool, I\u2019ve got to tell you, I\u2019m ever so pleased about that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_90696\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90696\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90696\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/07\/lichen-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/07\/lichen-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/07\/lichen-1-300x231.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/07\/lichen-1-768x591.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-90696\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Knight has recently had one of her handmade rugs displayed at a gallery in New South Wales.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou hang them on the wall, they\u2019re to kind of give your house this feeling of warmth and family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knight said she is looking forward to coming to Bendigo to perform on Saturday 22 July at All Seasons Resort Bendigo, and to pop by the Bendigo Woollen Mills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WORLD renowned Australian musicians Grace Knight and Wendy Matthews will be stopping by Bendigo for a show next week and singing pieces from Paul Simon\u2019s album Songbook.
