THE Bendigo Comedy Festival is returning with Ash Greblo and Poppa set to host the always popular comedy showcase event.<\/p>\n
Organising committee member and local comedy stalwart, Greblo has been performing his brand of anecdotal standup for several years now, and said he\u2019s looking forward to championing local comedians.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s pretty exciting because it might be someone you see around town all the time, it might be someone you avoid in town,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could be the person you see at your local fish and chip shop and then you find out they do comedy and you get to learn a whole new side to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd hopefully, that side is funny.\u201d<\/p>\n
Comedians selected for the showcase are local performers with their own show in the festival or people who have been working hard in the Bendigo comedy scene.<\/p>\n
The festival suffered set backs in previous years with COVID and floods affecting the shows but Greblo said he is looking forward to going ahead with back-to-back shows as planned this year.<\/p>\n
According to the funny man, the festival gets better every year and based on previous successes they have been able to book bigger acts.<\/p>\n
The festival committee was spoiled for choice this time around with comedians like Gillian Cosgriff, Heath Franklin, and Alex Ward joining the bill.<\/p>\n
Bendigo Comedy Festival aims to show the many styles of comedy and get people laughing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s kind of fun to have a laugh and sometimes in these crazy times it can be hard to find them all the time but Bendigo comedy festival is a pretty good place to start,\u201d said Greblo.<\/p>\n
Would be festival goers should keep their ears open over the next few weeks as Greblo said there are still some names to be added to the line-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve mentioned the gala\u2019s happening, but we\u2019re not allowed to announce the names for that,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to be able to tell everyone soon the big acts that will be performing at our gala,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
