{"id":91542,"date":"2023-09-01T04:56:07","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T18:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=91542"},"modified":"2023-09-01T09:17:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-31T23:17:00","slug":"portraits-on-show-capture-sprit-and-soul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/portraits-on-show-capture-sprit-and-soul\/","title":{"rendered":"Portraits on show capture sprit and soul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FORMER students, family, and friends attended the opening of the <em>Pencilled In<\/em> exhibition by Melbourne artist Salvatore Trigila at the Heathcote Winery on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition features portrait studies of Trigila\u2019s former students from his class of 1990 at Loyola College in the Melbourne suburb of Watsonia, and will be open until Sunday, 1 October.<\/p>\n<p>Trigila attributed the inspiration for his work to a chance meeting with a former student, Angela Fazio, in a coffee shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a life-changing moment in time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The popular teacher, affectionately dubbed Mr T, was subsequently invited to a post-COVID lockdown reunion of his 1990, year 12 students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was blown away by what these students had achieved,\u201d Trigila said. \u201cThe people they had become in the 30 years since I last saw them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so happy to be invited to the reunion and wanted to show my joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The enormous respect each student has for their former teacher was evident as they viewed the drawings that capture more than outward appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Each image seemed to have a soul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all so pleased to be a part of this exhibition,\u2019 said Ms Fazio. \u201cMr T has brought out our characters in each and every drawing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since 2019, Trigila has concentrated solely on his art and is known for building and figure drawings, and he regularly tutors art classes.<\/p>\n<p>Trigila will be at the winery every Sunday for the duration of the exhibition for meet the artist sessions and an opportunity to have your own A4 portrait created for $50.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FORMER students, family, and friends attended the opening of the Pencilled In exhibition by Melbourne artist Salvatore Trigila at the Heathcote Winery on Sunday.
