THE Heathcote Never-Give-Up group will present another unique fundraiser in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Victoria, this time on the Grand Final public holiday on Friday 29 September.<\/p>\n
Bolf, a combination of bowls and golf, and billed as two great games for one great cause, is a concept devised by the group.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter one of our bowling club members was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2015, fellow club members met on New Years Eve to find a way they could help,\u201d said group member Peter Cunningham.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe held our first fundraiser 26 days later, raising $22,000 for MND Victoria, and have continued ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n
MND Victoria provides support and information to people living with MND and their families as well as a free-of-charge equipment loan service.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo experience or expertise is necessary,\u201d said Mr Cunningham. \u201cWe have some equipment available for new players; just be prepared to have lots of fun. It\u2019s all about having a go.\u201d<\/p>\n
Teams of four are preferred but individual entries are welcome and will be formed into groups.<\/p>\n
The cost is $30 per person, which includes a two-course lunch featuring award-winning Tooborac Pies and a bottle of wine from main sponsor Red Edge for each player.<\/p>\n
There will also be raffles and an auction.<\/p>\n
