{"id":91688,"date":"2023-09-08T04:56:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-07T18:56:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=91688"},"modified":"2023-09-08T13:55:43","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T03:55:43","slug":"new-sports-opportunities-for-heathcote-ps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/new-sports-opportunities-for-heathcote-ps\/","title":{"rendered":"New sports opportunities for Heathcote PS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE Primary School students could soon be able to try new sports following to a donation from the Heathcote Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p>Club members Lorraine and Greg Speirs presented a cheque for $2000 to principal Kate Ballantyne at a school assembly last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe greatly appreciate this support from the Lions Club,\u201d said Ms Ballantyne. \u201cThis money will enable us to purchase soft ball and volleyball equipment to add to our existing sport program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Lions Club are always supportive of our school with donations like this and student scholarships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Speirs spoke to the assembly of students and parents about the work of the Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s great that the Lions can help schools with sport and it\u2019s wonderful to see so many kids coming back to sport and, in particular, being able to try new sports,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are only a small group and always on the lookout for new members to join and help raise funds for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE Primary School students could soon be able to try new sports following to a donation from the Heathcote Lions Club.
