MEMBERS of the newly formed YES for the VOICE team in Heathcote met last week to plan a local campaign with the aim of ensuring every resident is fully informed when they vote in the upcoming referendum.<\/p>\n
Chair, Mark Kevin, is leading the Heathcote group and coordinating across the broader Bendigo region for the yes campaign on the Indigenous voice to Parliament vote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were all pretty pumped up,\u201d he said. \u201cThe team is very enthusiastic.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a number of activities planned, including letterboxing every residence in town with a plain English guide to the yes vote, stalls outside IGA, the post office and at the Heathcote Lions Market.\u201d<\/p>\n
The group is organising a community forum to hear key speakers backing the yes vote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to give everyone in Heathcote the opportunity to understand the issues around the Voice so there is a lot of work to do over the next few weeks,\u201d Mr Kevin said.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s is also keen to have more locals to join the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are only just getting started\u201d he said. \u201cI am sure lots of people will want to help once they learn about our campaign and they will be very welcome.<\/p>\n
