AFTER three years of cancellations, the Heathcote Show is back on Tuesday 7 November and organisers say it\u2019s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.<\/p>\n
Show society president Alan Harris said this year marked the 139th Heathcote Show and it would offer something for everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the longest running community event in Heathcote and it\u2019s a great family day out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Show secretary Robyn Donovan said there were several activities and attractions included at no extra cost.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlso, this year entry is free for anyone aged 16 and under,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEljays Junk Yard Action Show will be a really big drawcard with motor bikes on stage doing tricks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe yard dogs are always a favourite if you like watch kelpies and border collies working the sheep.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhitey’s ferret racing is really popular as well, we had them in 2019 and it was very successful.<\/p>\n
\u201cFarmer Darryl is one of our mainstays, he’s always here and he loves showing all his animals off with his little parrot on his shoulder.<\/p>\n
\u201cProfessor Wallace\u2019s puppet show is coming too and there will also be face painting, kids\u2019 gardening and a wildlife meet and greet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sideshow alley will offer up showbags, games and rides, while food vans will include Mexican cuisine alongside traditional show favourites.<\/p>\n
The oval will be home to an extensive horse competition and the art and craft pavilion will be packed with examples of local creativity vying for various prizes.<\/p>\n
Schedules for art and craft are now available online from www.heathcoteshow.wordpress.com, while hard copies can be picked up from Courthouse Crafts, the post office, the visitor information centre and the council offices.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a wide range of categories to enter including cookery, floral art, photography, knitting, sewing, crochet and several junior classes.<\/p>\n
The Heathcote Show is on Melbourne Cup Day and gates open to the general public at 9am, and to horse and livestock competitors from 6am. The showgrounds are on the corner of Caldwell Street and Heathcote-North Costerfield Road, Heathcote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
