AFTER five years at Heathcote Community House, Jean Saunders is hanging up her volunteer\u2019s hat, at least for now.<\/p>\n
Ms Saunders came to the community house five years ago after volunteering at various other organisations for many years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI took a break,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I got bored and needed something to do, so I started at the community house.\u201d<\/p>\n
During her time at the community house, Ms Saunders has filled many roles.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou name it, I\u2019ve done it,\u2019 she said. \u201cReceptionist, gardening, hospitality, IT and anything that needed doing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed being with everyone very much. The people here are great company and I\u2019ve made lots of friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
Heathcote Community House Co-ordinator, Vicki Forde, said Ms Saunders will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n
\u201cJean has been the smile to greet visitors at the front door and with her quick wit and fabulous laugh, she helped everyone feel welcome and at ease.<\/p>\n
\u201cJean\u2019s support has been invaluable to us all with her great kindness and generosity of both time and spirit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all admire and applaud her \u2018I\u2019ll give it a go\u2019 attitude and I think she has surprised even herself with all she has learnt and achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n
In her retirement, Jean plans to chill out and catch up with friends and family.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut who knows; perhaps I\u2019ll get bored again and I\u2019ll be back looking for something to do.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
