{"id":91805,"date":"2023-09-22T04:56:51","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T18:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=91805"},"modified":"2023-09-22T09:00:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T23:00:45","slug":"heathcote-ps-students-unite-for-a-great-cause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/heathcote-ps-students-unite-for-a-great-cause\/","title":{"rendered":"Heathcote PS students unite for a great cause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS at Heathcote Primary School wore casual clothes and footy colours on the last day of term to raise funds for a buddy chair.<\/p>\n<p>The junior school council organised the event with students donating gold coins.<\/p>\n<p>A buddy chair is a bench where pupils can sit if they are seeking a friend to play with, other students can then see them and invite them to play.<\/p>\n<p>Buddy chairs, or benches, have proved successful in many schools, helping staff and other students recognise when support is needed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_91807\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91807\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-91807\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2023\/09\/footy-2-web-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-91807\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dorian, Tori, Harry, Kenzie, Rhiannon and Alexandra are excited about acquiring a safe space for fellow students.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They are easily distinguished and designed to be a little different from other seating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe children are very excited about the idea of a buddy chair,\u2019 said principal Kate Ballantyne, \u201cand, of course, they always love to dress up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chair will be a valuable addition to the school.
