GWS booked themselves a preliminary final berth with their twenty-three-point semi final win over Port Adelaide last Saturday night.<\/p>\n
After starting their September campaign in seventh, the Giants will now take on minor premiers Collingwood for a spot in the grand final.<\/p>\n
While the Giants will be coming off a six-day break and will be on the road for the third consecutive week, they won\u2019t fear the venue, stage or opposition having upset Collingwood in an MCG preliminary final in 2019.<\/p>\n
Although they\u2019ll head into the game as underdogs, Kane Cornes said he believes GWS\u2019 game is in great order and he feels they can win if they bring their best footy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can do it, they\u2019re playing as good a football as anyone,\u201d Cornes said on AFL.com.au’s The Round So Far.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything is in good shape, their midfield they\u2019ve now got flying.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnly a month ago Port Adelaide kicked 70 points from stoppage [against them] so they\u2019ve been able to fix that.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Kieren] Briggs is a top three or four ruckman in the game so they\u2019ll definitely have an advantage there.<\/p>\n
\u201cBehind the ball with [Sam] Taylor back in and [Jack] Buckley, they\u2019re rock solid.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen their key forwards are going well and they\u2019ve got Toby Greene.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of threats.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Cornes isn\u2019t writing off the Giants, his tip is still firmly with Collingwood as he thinks they\u2019ve been the best side in it all year.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut you\u2019d be a pretty brave person to tip against Collingwood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCollingwood have been the best team all year and I\u2019ve said all year we\u2019ll see them on Grand Final day.<\/p>\n
\u201cNothing that I\u2019ve seen from the Giants will sway me of that opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collingwood beat GWS 120-55 when the sides faced off at the MCG in round nine.<\/p>\n
The bounce for Friday\u2019s preliminary final is set for 7.50 pm.<\/p>\n
