ATHLETICS Bendigo Region will run a come and try track and field session on the AFL grand final eve public holiday.<\/p>\n
Whether you\u2019re a long-time competitor, aiming to make a comeback, or never tried track and field, AB welcomes you to join in the action at the Athletics Bendigo complex in Retreat Road in Flora Hill.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a free event and goes from 1.30pm.<\/p>\n
Most entries are done via AB\u2019s website to assist with seeding and finalising fields, but entries can be taken on Friday from 12.45pm.<\/p>\n
Track disciplines will be 100, 400, 1500 and 3000 meters.<\/p>\n
There will be one or possibly more flights of shot put, long jump, high jump and discus, depending on entry numbers.<\/p>\n
Finale to the field program will be pole vault.<\/p>\n
Round one in the Tuesday night track series, sponsored by A.L. Parker Electrical will be run on 3 October at the Flora Hill venue.<\/p>\n
Race distances throughout this series are 1000, 3000 or 5000 meters and entry is on-line only.<\/p>\n
For many athletes the come and try day or Tuesday Night Series will be part of the warm-up to the opening round of Athletics Victoria\u2019s Shield League on 7 October.<\/p>\n
Eaglehawk will again be in premier division after a great effort to be third against metro powers Diamond Valley and Essendon last season.<\/p>\n
The Borough had many outstanding performers in the AVSL action and also in the club\u2019s run to again be number one at the Victoria Country championships run at Geelong\u2019s John Landy Field.<\/p>\n
South Bendigo will again be in division two of Shield League.<\/p>\n
This spring\/summer, Bendigo Harriers will compete in division three, and Bendigo University in division five.<\/p>\n
Several of Athletics Bendigo\u2019s cross-country stars, aka Bats, will now their attention to the track action to gain Shield points for their club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
