SHROUDED in mystery and plastic wrap, the promise of an electric vehicle charging station in Heathcote, cuts a ghostly figure beside Barrack Oval.<\/p>\n
Some residents have been left are puzzled, others a little annoyed after watching the unveiling of charging stations in surrounding towns.<\/p>\n
Electric vehicle driver Evan Pritchard said he was excited when installation through the State Government\u2019s Charging the Regions\u2019 fund was announced.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecent additions have been Nagambie and Lancefield and now it seems, going by the temporary fencing and signage in town, Heathcote will finally get their turn,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an EV driver, this news is fantastic, especially if people are considering going emissions free and buying an EV but are worried about charging infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Mr Pritchard, like many others has not been able to get any information about when the station is likely to be open to the public.<\/p>\n
Michelle Wyatt, City of Greater Bendigo\u2019s Manager for climate change and environment said the municipality had limited involvement with the charging station.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil was involved with site selection and internal approval,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvie Networks are rolling out the charging stations and we hope the Heathcote station will be up and running soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Evie spokesperson Matthew Munro also said the facility should be switched on.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be meeting with council on Thursday to discuss the final details,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully it will be ready in two weeks but it should be operational by the end of the month.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
