{"id":92386,"date":"2023-10-13T04:55:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T17:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=92386"},"modified":"2023-10-12T16:03:44","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T05:03:44","slug":"technology-textiles-and-poetry-combine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/technology-textiles-and-poetry-combine\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology, textiles and poetry combine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RETURNING to her installation art passion, Susan M Wyer has collaborated with fellow artist Douglas McManus for their <em>Disruption <\/em>exhibition at Rood Henry\u2019s Art Space.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition opened last weekend and will continue until 21 October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe chose to open on the food and wine festival weekend to bring together another layer of interest to the town,\u201d said Wyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDouglas and I collaborated for many years when we were based in Frankston but when I moved to Heathcote two years ago, he moved to the Gold Coast with his partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Peter Pichut from Palling Bros Brewery offered me a small studio to work from and asked if I would like to put on an exhibition, I agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDouglas welcomed the opportunity to join me as we have always worked well together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The varied collection of works involves both digital technologies and textiles, combined with some of Wyer\u2019s poetry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in creating an experience and using my work to make social political comments as an advocate for change,\u201d said Wyer, who has been working with textiles for more than 35 years.<\/p>\n<p>Her work has been exhibited throughout Australia.<\/p>\n<p>McManus primarily uses digital technologies fused with traditional methods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy work is a comment on the male psyche in terms of emotion, violence and deterioration of the male body,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>His sculptural and textile works are represented in major galleries and private collections both in Australia and overseas.<\/p>\n<p>The art space is open Wednesday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RETURNING to her installation art passion, Susan M Wyer has collaborated with fellow artist Douglas McManus for their Disruption exhibition at Rood Henry\u2019s Art Space.
