THE iconic story of Elle Woods is being recreated for the stage by the students of Bendigo South East College.<\/p>\n
Production director Jorja Polglase said she chose Legally Blonde the Musical for its positive messages.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe picked Legally Blonde because it\u2019s really modern and super fun, there\u2019s really catchy songs and the main message of the show is that you don\u2019t need to fall into stereotypes,\u201d Polglase said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe message of empowerment is what really drew me into want to direct this with kids, because I think they can get a lot out of being in it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The musical features songs and dance routines based on memorable scenes from the film, including the bend and snap.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe choreographer is Taylor Chisholm and it\u2019s her first time choreographing a major musical,\u201d Polglase said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer choreography is amazing, the kids have picked it up so well and bend and snap is a showstopper.\u201d<\/p>\n
Year 9 student Matilda Woods is taking on the role of Elle, alongside Ralphie the mini-foxy x chihuahua who will play Bruiser.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been at the maybe last six rehearsals just getting to know the cast and he is absolutely so cute,\u201d Woods said.<\/p>\n
The cast of 40 students from years 7 to 10 have been rehearsing since term 2.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re so talented for young kids and they\u2019ve got really bright futures ahead of them if they\u2019re already this talented at this age,\u201d Polglase said.<\/p>\n
The show opens 27 October at 7pm at the Capital, followed by two shows on 28 October.<\/p>\n
