UNPAID carers took part in Art for the Heart session at the Barrack Stadium earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The session was organised by Bendigo Health and run by a representative from Pinot & Picasso in Bendigo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe session offered some time out support for unpaid carers,\u201d said Shona McClellan, carer support supervisor at Bendigo Health.<\/p>\n
\u201cArt is a relaxing activity that relieves tension and stress and can have positive impacts on health.<\/p>\n
\u201cCarers enjoyed step by step instructions from our wonderful \u2018Pinot & Picasso\u2019 host to create their own masterpiece to take home.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the session, attendees had morning tea and a chance to catch up with other carers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was fun and interesting,\u201d said Jennie Moore. \u201cA great chance to learn something new.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her husband Trevor Moore agreed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a welcoming environment and we had lots of laughs,\u201d he said. \u201cIt really helps to take some of the stress away.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Heathcote session was the first in a series of Art for the Heart events planned by Bendigo Health.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be sessions at Woodend and Maryborough later in the month and we have more events planned for next year,\u201d said Ms McClellan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
