FEDERAL Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters, visited Heathcote Bowling Club last week to unveil a new project funded under the Federal Government\u2019s Stronger Communities Program.<\/p>\n
The funding stream aims to pay for small capital works projects that deliver social benefits to the community.<\/p>\n
The Heathcote Bowling Club received $20,000 to replace their old audio equipment with new speakers and a microphone setup on the green.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m glad to see the Heathcote Bowling Club receive funding for these important equipment upgrades that help create an even more accessible community space,\u201d said Ms Chesters.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is vital that people in our community have accessible spaces available to them to meet and gather in our community and this project delivers just that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Heathcote Bowling Club is one of 12 not-for-profit organisations across the Bendigo electorate to receive a share in $150,000 funding.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club offers a community space and is often used as a venue for c fundraisers, lunches and events, as well as playing host to tournament and social bowls.<\/p>\n
Club secretary Duncan McGann said members were grateful for the funding.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe very much appreciate the grant funding provided through Lisa Chester\u2019s office for the new audio system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe system will allow the club to hold bigger tournaments.<\/p>\n
