IN a special Christmas performance at Palling Bros Brewery, the Gami Gami Devils will soon help to raise funds in support of Loki\u2019s Lodge animal rescue.<\/p>\n
Loki\u2019s Lodge was started seven years ago at Derrinal by Danielle Press who rescues and rehomes rural animals in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who devotes so much time to animal rescue deserves support,\u201d said band member Mark Cooper, aka Hotrod Gami. \u201cDanielle is doing an amazing job.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Melbourne based country\/bluegrass band plays covers with a few originals mixed in.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been playing at Palling Bros since 2018 and try to do four gigs a year,\u201d said Cooper.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rest of the group comprises of Babyface Gami, Kenny Daring Gami, Outlaw Harri Gami, Captain Jack Irish Gami and CDub Gami.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe we are the best toe tapping, thigh slapping, jaw aching, booty shaking cowboy band north of the Darebin Creek.\u201d<\/p>\n
The band has been trying to perform a Very Gami Xmas for several years.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously lockdowns slowed us down but we are attempting to start again and, hopefully, we can start a new tradition with Loki\u2019s Lodge and Palling Bros Brewery.<\/p>\n
\u201cBabyface Gami will kick us off with an intro about the event before we play our first set.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen we will have Danielle come up and chat about what they do there and what they need to keep giving the love the animals need.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe gig is completely voluntary by us. Peter Pichut from Palling Bros Brewery is a great supporter of the Gami Gami Devils and is much appreciated.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the evening our partners will rattle tins and Danielle will have some merchandise and a display table.<\/p>\n
\u201cJessica from Cuts for Pups dog grooming has donated some prizes and we welcome any other donations from local businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cooper said he encourages people to come dressed in Christmas outfits.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a casual affair,\u201d he said. \u201cWe don\u2019t take anything too seriously.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will finish up with a set of bangers and if that doesn\u2019t get people up singing and dancing then we haven\u2019t done our job.\u201d<\/p>\n
