{"id":93449,"date":"2023-12-08T04:47:47","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T17:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=93449"},"modified":"2023-12-08T10:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T23:26:54","slug":"saints-regain-place-at-top-of-ladder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/sport\/saints-regain-place-at-top-of-ladder\/","title":{"rendered":"Saints regain place at top of ladder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE will be striving to strengthen its position at the top of the Division Three ladder in Saturday\u2019s eighth round of pennant bowls action.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints head to Bendigo\u2019s greens in Barnard Street for the match in the Bendigo leg of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls.<\/p>\n<p>A showdown between the Royals and Saints starts at 1.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>A 25-shot win at home against Kangaroo Flat last Saturday put Heathcote back in front of the premiership race.<\/p>\n<p>Biggest win was a 28-12 result for Adam Luxford\u2019s rink.<\/p>\n<p>Victory on the last three ends secured a 24-13 win for Bill Gardiner while the Maurice Lee-skipped rink won by four shots, but Chris Morcom went down 14-20.<\/p>\n<p>In division six, Heathcote is home this Saturday to play Inglewood.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints won by 24 shots at Bendigo East last round.<\/p>\n<p>Grant Baker won 25-14 and the Brian Taylor-skipped rink dominated in a 27-10 victory.<\/p>\n<p>After being down by 11 shots after 12 ends, Brian Berger fought back for a 20-24 result.<\/p>\n<p>In midweek pennant, Heathcote is at home to play Castlemaine in the division two match from 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p>When these clubs met in round two it was Castlemaine which dominated play for a 16-76 to 0-49 result.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints went down by 11 shots at Golden Square last Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Dot Cutajar led by a shot after 12 ends and won the last three ends to clinch a 20-18 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Eileen O\u2019Brien drew 17-all after the hosts fought from five shots down at three ends to go.<\/p>\n<p>The Lorraine Speirs-skipped rink was down by seven shots after 11 ends and was down 28-15 after the final bowl.<\/p>\n<p>A top contest ended 63-52 in favour of Golden Square.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas break-up for Heathcote Bowls Club will be on Thursday, 14 December and more goods are being taken for the hampers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HEATHCOTE will be striving to strengthen its position at the top of the Division Three ladder in Saturday\u2019s eighth round of pennant bowls action.
