HEATHCOTE RSL Sub-Branch will again present a free Australia Day celebration at Barrack Reserve on 26 January.<\/p>\n
It will be the fourth time they have hosted the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cHeathcote Picnic in the Park is a fantastic day for everyone,\u201d said RSL Sub-Branch vice-president Miles Humphrey.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything will be free. There will be a sausage sizzle, ice creams, face painting and live entertainment.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd a petting zoo, not just for the kids, adults love the animals, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event will be family friendly, smoke and alcohol free.<\/p>\n
\u201cBring along a rug and a picnic or enjoy some of our snags,\u201d said Mr Humphrey.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to sit back in the shade under the trees with family and friends and enjoy the entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The community event is coordinated by volunteers from the Heathcote RSL Sub-Branch and supported by their social fundraising, the City of Greater Bendigo and donations from local businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe event gets more popular each year,\u201d said Mr Humphrey, \u201cand we are grateful for all the support.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGaffney\u2019s Bakery, Mandalay Resources, IGA and The Barn have all contributed, which is great,\u201d said Mr Humphrey.<\/p>\n
