EAGLEHAWK will fight to stay perched on top of the premier division ladder in this Saturday\u2019s tenth round of Athletics Victoria Shield League field and track action in Flora Hill.<\/p>\n
After another brilliant run to be number one at last weekend\u2019s Victoria Country titles in Ballarat, Eaglehawk\u2019s squad is focused on more AVSL success.<\/p>\n
Victory in the ninth round put the Hawks season score on 94 and nine points clear of Diamond Valley in the title race.<\/p>\n
The Valley is yet to use its PowerPlay in which clubs double their points tally in their designated round.<\/p>\n
A tally of 83 points has South Bendigo leading division two and the Bloods used the PowerPlay in round nine where they were runner-up to Chilwell.<\/p>\n
Yet to use its PowerPlay, Chilwell starts this round on 70 points while Bendigo Harriers are striving to climb from the relegation zone in division two.<\/p>\n
The Harriers start this round on 28 points and chasing the eighth-placed Athletics South West on 35.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s action at the Retreat Road complex starts with hammer throw at 1pm.<\/p>\n
First of the track events will be distance hurdles at 400, 300 or 200 meters from 1.30pm.<\/p>\n
Other disciplines to be runs over 200, 800, 3000 and 5000 meters, and 4 x 400-metre relay.<\/p>\n
There will be non-scoring 100-metre dash, and a 1500 or 3000-metre walk.<\/p>\n
Flights of discus, high jump and long jump will be contested.<\/p>\n
In the duel for AVSL\u2019s Most Valuable Athlete award, Eaglehawk\u2019s Dave Chisholm starts this round in fourth place on 11,599 points.<\/p>\n
South Bendigo veteran Joan Self has scored 10,961 to be in eighth place.<\/p>\n
Other top performers across the season have been Eaglehawk clubmates Daniel Chisholm in 10th, Jorja Morrison in 20th, and Cameron Greenwood in30th.<\/p>\n
South Bendigo\u2019s Carol Coad is in 15th place on 10,656 points.<\/p>\n
