{"id":94442,"date":"2024-02-02T04:57:38","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T17:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=94442"},"modified":"2024-02-02T09:42:26","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T22:42:26","slug":"residents-out-in-force-for-australia-day-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/residents-out-in-force-for-australia-day-celebration\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents out in force for Australia Day celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS of Heathcote residents attended the free Australia Day celebration at Barrack Reserve as part of an event was hosted by Heathcote RSL Sub-Branch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was great to see all ages enjoying such a beautiful day in the shade of Barrack Reserve,\u201d said RSL Sub-Branch vice-president Miles Humphrey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event keeps getting more popular.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was even some dancing on the grass by the young, and some of our more mature Heathcotians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was the fourth time local RSL had hosted the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHundreds turned out once again to celebrate living in the lucky country,\u201d said Mr Humphrey.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_94444\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94444\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-94444\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/02\/William-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-94444\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">20-month-old William met a goat in the petting zoo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey enjoyed live entertainment by band Bremer River and Clan McLeod Pipe Band, the Animals2U petting zoo, ice cream from Bendigo Ice-Creamery and snags from the barbie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to all who supported, including Mandalay Resources, Gaffney\u2019s Bakery, The Barn, IGA and the many people who threw cash into our donation jar,\u201d said Mr Humphrey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are especially grateful to Heathcote RSL Sub-Branch volunteers who worked hard so that everyone could relax and enjoy the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to doing it all again next year!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bev Sharpe and Helen Burns have been attending Australia Day celebrations at the reserve \u201cfor as long as I can remember.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s such a lovely community gathering and I feel like I know just about everyone here,\u201d said Ms Sharpe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s good to catch up with so many friends.
