STORYTIME returns to Heathcote Library today and staff are looking forward to welcoming babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers from 9.30am<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve picked our stories, practiced our songs, and the bubble machine is ready to go!\u201d said Elise Wright, co-ordinator of community-based services at Goldfields Library Corporation.<\/p>\n
\u201cStorytime will be held every Friday during school terms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fun filled sessions are designed to nurture children\u2019s listening, language, and learning skills through a delightful blend of stories, songs and rhymes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Staff at the library believe that regular visits to the library can significantly contribute to enhancing listening and learning abilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cStorytime brings parents, grandparents, carers and their children together in a fun and sometimes silly way,\u201d said presenter Ange Graystone.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt provides an opportunity to sing, dance, and enjoy stories together, all without being too serious.\u201d<\/p>\n
Participants are encouraged to borrow as many books as they like.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s entirely free and we want to assure everyone that there are no overdue fines for children\u2019s books,\u201d said Ms Wright.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe library is a welcoming, safe place with friendly staff and volunteers who are eager to make every visit enjoyable.<\/p>\n
\u201cResearch underscores the positive impact of reading, singing, talking, and playing with children before they embark on their school journey.<\/p>\n
\u201cDaily reading sessions contribute to improved speech, reading and writing abilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can provide a head start for school and potential long-term benefits such as better friendships, enhanced health and well-being, and increased income.<\/p>\n
