HEATHCOTE Community House is seeking participants for upcoming first aid and CPR courses.<\/p>\n

Training will be held at Barrack Reserve on 18 May from 9am \u2013 3.30pm.<\/p>\n

“The sessions will be facilitated by Access Skills and Training who trained eight community members in March,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.<\/p>\n

“The course is a wonderful opportunity to be trained in valuable lifesaving skills.”<\/p>\n

Key topics covered include responding to emergency situations; defibrillation; bleeding, bandages and shock; allergies; chest pain, stroke and choking.<\/p>\n

Participants will also learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.<\/p>\n

Facilitator Colin Flitton has been teaching for 16 years and working with the community house for 12 years.<\/p>\n

“We have always had great feedback on the courses,” said Ms Forde.<\/p>\n

“It is great that local people are able to gain skills that could one day help their families, workplaces, volunteer groups and organisations.”<\/p>\n

A light lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments are included with the course.<\/p>\n
