{"id":95747,"date":"2024-05-17T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-16T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=95747"},"modified":"2024-05-15T17:41:58","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T07:41:58","slug":"heathcote-alive-with-the-sound-of-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/heathcote-alive-with-the-sound-of-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Heathcote alive with the sound of music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER being cancelled twice due to COVID outbreaks, the Heathcote Health Sound of Music Extravaganza finally went ahead on Monday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/05\/Heathcote_Sound_of_M_96889.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The audience made up of residents, staff, family and friends were delighted by the performance by HH residents and the Wandering Minstrels.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Residents, staff and the U3A choir, the Wandering Minstrels, delighted their audience of family members and friends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our first extravaganza was originally planned for last October to celebrate Seniors Month but COVID said no,&#8221; said Aged Care Lifestyle and Leisure coordinator Carol Fanning.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/05\/Heathcote_Sound_of_M_99658.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Resident, Betty Knight, said receiving the award for Best Performance was a wonderful surprise and the perfect finale for the afternoon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Third time&#8217;s a charm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The residents voted on the theme with The Sound of Music being the most popular choice.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They practiced the songs and actions, made props and costumes, and really embraced the opportunity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2024\/05\/Heathcote_Sound_of_M_69198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"899\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Resident Leo Steynis dressed in Austrian costume. Photo: STEVE WOMERSLEY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We didn&#8217;t cut up any curtains, but I did utilise bed sheets to make my costume.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The idea of the day was to just have fun, dress up, sing, act up a bit and laugh.
