{"id":95986,"date":"2024-06-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-15T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=95986"},"modified":"2024-07-19T08:28:59","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T22:28:59","slug":"a-great-start-for-junior-footballers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/sport\/a-great-start-for-junior-footballers\/","title":{"rendered":"A great start for junior footballers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER recent Auskick cancellations due to bad weather, children ranging in ages from five to twelve enjoyed fun in the sun last week.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions are held on Thursdays from 4pm to 5pm at the Barrack Reserve oval.<\/p>\n<p>The children are coached by Tom Tobin, himself a former Auskick participant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tom enjoyed Auskick when he was young,&#8221; said his wife Lauren Tobin, who helps to set up each week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s been coaching for the last two years and now our son is playing and will move up to the Heathcote Under 12s next year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>About 20 children participate in each session.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are a great, enthusiastic bunch,&#8221; said Ms Tobin, &#8220;and we get tremendous support from all the parents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each session they start with a warm-up, then split into groups for different activities and games.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the same time the Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 16 and senior teams arrive to train on different parts of the oval.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s an inspiration for the kids to see and the atmosphere here each Thursday is fantastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A break-up is held at the end of the term and children are presented with medals.<\/p>\n<p>The Auskick sessions are open to all children aged between 5 and 12.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone interested can contact Mr Tobin on 0417 376 382 or email <a href=\"mailto:tomtobin@bigpond.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tomtobin@bigpond.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone is welcome,&#8221; said Ms Tobin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER recent Auskick cancellations due to bad weather, children ranging in ages from five to twelve enjoyed fun in the sun last week.
