AFTER a difficult start to the year, Samantha West, proprietor of Paper Creations Paper Craft, has added a new dimension to the business.<\/p>\n
Cup ‘n Craft is a space for crafters to sit and work on their current projects while enjoying a coffee.<\/p>\n
“At the beginning of the year I had my third surgery to repair damage after I was kicked by a horse and broke my leg in five places,” said Ms West.<\/p>\n
“It slowed me down, but I am finally getting back on my feet and looking forward to this new extension to the business.<\/p>\n
“I got the idea for this venture after seeing a similar one in Melbourne a few years ago.<\/p>\n
“Local crafters can bring along whatever craft they are working, buy a coffee and sit and relax with fellow crafters.<\/p>\n
“There are other coffee shops in town, but we are not in competition, just providing an opportunity to socialise with other craftspeople. It’s a community craft hub.<\/p>\n
“It can be lonely sitting at home doing craft by yourself.<\/p>\n
“People are welcome to bring whatever they are working on, from knitting and crochet to scrapbooking and drawing.”<\/p>\n
Ms West’s husband Christopher West, who runs a digital marketing business, will be on hand to help out.<\/p>\n
“We were thrilled to be granted our certificate to open the coffee shop,” he said, “and we look forward to welcoming craftspeople to our studio.”<\/p>\n
The couple emigrated from South Africa 17 years ago with their two young daughters.<\/p>\n
“We moved to Heathcote four years ago and opened Paper Creations Paper Craft two year later,” Ms West said.<\/p>\n
“We sell scrapbooking and paper quilling supplies, handmade cards, digital cards and party supplies. I also run pottery classes.<\/p>\n
“My mother was a potter and I learned pottery from when I was just three years old. I think I have clay in my blood.”<\/p>\n
Paper Creations Paper Craft and Cup ‘n Craft are open Tuesdays, and Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm.<\/p>\n
