{"id":96444,"date":"2024-08-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/?p=96444"},"modified":"2024-07-31T14:22:20","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T04:22:20","slug":"support-for-financial-counselling-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mcivortimes\/news\/support-for-financial-counselling-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Support for financial counselling services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FURTHER fifteen million dollars in funding by the State Government is set to provide more support to financial counselling services.<\/p>\n<p>Not-for-profit community organisations can apply for funding to help provide services to their local community.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the additional funding is to help Victorians experiencing financial hardship following interest rate rises, increasing rents and cost-of-living pressures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving access to free financial counselling can be a lifeline when you are struggling to pay the bills, which is why we have provided record funding to support access to these services,\u201d said Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gabrielle Williams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know people experiencing rental or mortgage stress need support, and this additional $15 million investment will help more Victorians connect with financial counselling services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eligible organisations must submit a proposal about how they will support people experiencing financial difficulties, especially due to mortgage and rental stress.<\/p>\n<p>This funding is on top of $6.8 million which was allocated in this year\u2019s Victorian Budget for specialist financial counselling services for victims of family violence.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest are open until Friday 30 August and can be made at <strong>consumer.vic.gov.au\/FCfunding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A FURTHER fifteen million dollars in funding by the State Government is set to provide more support to financial counselling services.
