THROUGHOUT August, CWA Heathcote Night are assisting Share the Dignity in collecting feminine hygiene products for their Dignity Drive.<\/p>\n
Share the Dignity is a charity providing vulnerable women with essential period products.<\/p>\n
“CWA Heathcote Night have always been involved with the Share the Dignity program,” said president Sandra Fox. “In the past we have just donated products we have individually purchased.<\/p>\n
“This year we decided to reach out to the community for involvement.<\/p>\n
“This creates more awareness about the plight of women, along with making us all feel a little more powerful by working together.<\/p>\n
“By reaching out to the community this also showcases what our group is about and what we support.”<\/p>\n
Share the Dignity was formed in 2015 after it was reported that one in five Australians have been unable to afford period products at some point in their life.<\/p>\n
Many are homeless or living in shelters.<\/p>\n
Beginning as a grassroots local community initiative, Share the Dignity has grown to a national charity.<\/p>\n
Working with over 6000 volunteers, they have been able to deliver more than four million period products to Australian women and girls. “If anyone would like to donate, the Dignity Drive box will be at Heathcote Pharmacy until Thursday 29 August,” said Ms Fox.<\/p>\n
