OLD favourites and new attractions will feature at this year’s Heathcote Show to be held at the showgrounds on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 5 November.<\/p>\n
Show schedules are available at the Post Office, Information Centre and Courthouse Crafts.<\/p>\n
“The yard dog trials, and horse show are always very popular,” said show secretary Robyn Donovan.<\/p>\n
“Professor Wallace, Whitey’s Ferrets and Farmer Darryl are returning and are firm favourites with both children and adults.<\/p>\n
“There will be face painting, sideshow alley, rides and stalls selling homemade goods and bric-a-brac.<\/p>\n
“A new addition this year will be the butterfly house. It’s free and children can go in five at a time and interact with butterflies.”<\/p>\n
Food for all tastes will be available.<\/p>\n
“We have Korean food, twisty potatoes, whipped ice cream and doughnuts in a range of different flavours,” Ms Donovan said.<\/p>\n
“The Lions Club will also be manning their barbecue.”<\/p>\n
Amateur photographers are urged to get their cameras clicking for the Victorian Agricultural Show photography competition.<\/p>\n
“The theme for this year is Architecture \u2013 a bridge, building or structure in Australia,” said Ms Donovan.<\/p>\n
“The winning photograph will go on to compete at the 2025 Group Final and the winner of the Group Final will then compete at the State Final at the 2025 Melbourne Royal Show.<\/p>\n
“There are many photo opportunities in the local area and further afield and we look forward to seeing lots of entries.”<\/p>\n
Entry fees for the Heathcote Show will remain unchanged at $12 per adult, and children under 16 will be free.<\/p>\n
“Last year we offered free entry thanks to a State Government initiative, and we will continue it this year even though it is no longer funded,” said Ms Donovan.<\/p>\n
“I am sure it will be a boost to families with the current cost of living. There are lots of free activities, so families can attend without breaking the budget.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
