THREE very different gardens owned by members of the Australian Plant Society Heathcote (APSH) opened to the public last weekend.<\/p>\n
All proceeds from the day went towards the Heathcote Native Garden project.<\/p>\n
“It was a great weekend,” APSH secretary Tania Biagioni said.<\/p>\n
“The weather was perfect, and our members showcased a wonderful, diverse selection of gardens.<\/p>\n
“At our first garden, the Dwyers displayed a pristine two acres, after gradually reintroducing native plants to the front garden over the last two years.<\/p>\n
“The back has native plants and features a wonderful grandchildren’s play area.<\/p>\n
“The second garden was created by Nan Oates. Her journey started with overgrown palms and yucca, and out-of-control cape weed.<\/p>\n
“She planted bird-attracting natives along with fruit trees and a veggie garden.<\/p>\n
“Nan is an amazing senior who single-handedly transformed her garden in just three years.”<\/p>\n
The third garden was an eight-hectare bush block.<\/p>\n
“Owned by Julia and Leon… the house is surrounded by a labyrinth of paths and garden beds, mostly natives, designed to provide habitat for birds, lizards and small wildlife,” Ms Biagioni said.<\/p>\n
“Many visitors explored the nearby bush to see orchids and other indigenous plants.<\/p>\n
“The APSH would like to thank the members who opened their gardens and all the visitors who supported us on the day.”<\/p>\n
The APSH will hold its annual Flower Show and Plant Sale on 12 April 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
